DEFINITIONS TO HELP UNDERSTAND THIS NEW TECHNOLOGY:

  1. Telemedicine - The delivery of health care services through the use of interactive audio and video technology, permitting realtime communication between the patient at the originating site and the provider, for the purpose of diagnosis, consultation, or treatment. “Telemedicine” does not include the use of audio-only telephone, facsimile, or email.

  2. Store-and-ForwardWe currently are set up for Kaiser, Premera and Medicare. Patients are responsible for checking with their insurance company to make sure they have coverage for telemedicine. If patient does not have coverage and they want to proceed with telehealth services then the client will be responsible for payment. As with in house psychiatry, Payment for services is due on date of services. Technology - The use of an asynchronous transmission of a covered person’s medical information from an originating site to the health care provider at a distant site which results in medical diagnosis and management of the covered person. Does not include the use of audio-only telephone, facsimile, or email.

  3. Originating Site - A qualifying site the patient is physically located at while receiving health care services through telemedicine. For Kaiser and Premera Blue Cross clients they can have their appointment at home.

  4. We currently are set up for Kaiser, Premera and Medicare. Patients are responsible for checking with their insurance company to make sure they have coverage for telemedicine. If patient does not have coverage and they want to proceed with telehealth services then the client will be responsible for payment. As with in house psychiatry, Payment for services is due on date of services.
